 Some movies of the decade include the back to the future series, the indiana jones series, etc. Several historical classic comedy's also premeired during this decade. Including the golf classic Caddyshack starring Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, and Rodney Dangerfield. The disaster movie spoof Airplane appeared in the 80's and it is on the american film institutes list of best movies ever. The Jerk was a funny movie starring Steve Martin. Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid also starred Steve Martin as a detective nad it used 40's noir footage from movies in the 40's. Lastly Ghostbusters and Die hard were popular high quality movies. 

TV shows
Popular TV shows included Dallas, Alice, 60 minutes, the dukes of hazzard, MASH, the Jeffersons, the cosby show, etc. 

toys and other stuff
The home console called the atari 2600 was popular and had games such as Pitfall, Pong, Arkanoid, etc. It also competed with arcades and had several games based on arcade titles like pac man, space invaders, etc.
The home console known as the NES was popular and more powerful than the atari. Some popular games includes Tetris, Duck hunt, super mario brothers, etc.
The game boy was one of the most succesful games ever. It came packaged with tetris, which sold millions of copies.
Arcades where everywhere during this decade. Lots of kids and teens enjoyed going to the arcades. Although most parents were against it, hence home consoles were born.
Cabbage kids were popular toys. There was even a cabbage patch kids video game.
Glo-worms were dolls that would light up.
Electronic Battleship had a speaker to register hits.
Creepy cralwers were gummy candy that was a made in a mini oven.
Gremlins was a series of toys that was based on the movies.
Star wars kenners action figures were action figures based on the star wars trilagey, today they are worht about 400$ if there in mint condition.
Teenage mutant turtles were mutated turtles that met a rat in the sewers who taught them how to be ninjas, they were action figures, and they were one of the most merchandised and popular toys in the decade. 
Wacky wall crawlers were toys that were thrown against the wall and after they were thrown onto a wall, they would slowy crall down the wall.
Pound Puppy's were really cute plush small dogs stuffed with pellets. They would come with a kennel and everything. Adopt a stuffed puppy,
